Gene Autry

Stock Contractor • ProRodeo Hall of Fame Inductee, 1979 Sports fans knew Gene Autry as the owner of the California (now Anaheim) Angels baseball team and the former Western movie and singing star who once played semi-pro baseball. Few are aware of his longtime involvement in professional rodeo. In 1942 Autry, at the height of his screen popularity, had a string of rodeo stock based in Ardmore, Okla.

The ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy is located in Colorado Springs, Colo., near the foothills of Pikes Peak. You’ll be greeted by “The Chamber”, a larger-than-life bronze statue of legendary nine-time world champion Casey Tibbs aboard the famed saddle bronc horse “Necktie”.

Inside you will experience first-hand the history and all of the incredible stories of the only major sport that evolved from a working lifestyle. You will see priceless memorabilia from current world champions and the honorary inductees who made rodeo what it is today. Come and experience rodeo as never before and walk with the legends of rodeo.
